Officials Reopen 134 Freeway In Eagle Rock

EAGLE ROCK (CBSLA.com) — Traffic was temporarily diverted off the Ventura (134) Freeway in Eagle Rock on Friday evening while authorities investigated a suspicious package.

The partial shutdown of the westbound lanes of the thoroughfare north of Figueroa Street was lifted just before 9 p.m.

Stu Mundel, who was reporting overhead, said the freeway was closed just after 7 p.m. after a suspicious device was found.

"The bomb squad's robot picked up the device, brought it over to the other side, and then boom," Mundel said. "They lit that thing up ... there was no secondary explosion."

The investigation was ongoing.

No further information was immediately available.
