EAGLE ROCK (CBSLA.com) — Traffic was temporarily diverted off the Ventura (134) Freeway in Eagle Rock on Friday evening while authorities investigated a suspicious package.
The partial shutdown of the westbound lanes of the thoroughfare north of Figueroa Street was lifted just before 9 p.m.
Stu Mundel, who was reporting overhead, said the freeway was closed just after 7 p.m. after a suspicious device was found.
“The bomb squad’s robot picked up the device, brought it over to the other side, and then boom,” Mundel said. “They lit that thing up … there was no secondary explosion.”
The investigation was ongoing.
No further information was immediately available.
