Ex-Coach Admits To Sexual Relationships With East LA High School Students

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A former high school volleyball coach pleaded no contest Tuesday to sex-related counts involving two 15-year-old girls he met at Esteban Torres High School in East Los Angeles.

Jonathan Adam Roldan, 23, pleaded no contest to one felony count of unlawful sexual intercourse with one girl and a misdemeanor charge of child molestation involving a second girl, Deputy District Attorney Reinhold Mueller said.

The Los Angeles man admitted to engaging in an ongoing sexual relationship with one female student, beginning in September. He also admitted to beginning a relationship with another female student about a month later, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Roldan, who worked as a junior varsity girls' volleyball coach, faces three years in state prison when he is sentenced on June 9. A judge likely will order the defendant to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

The judge also issued a protective order, barring Roldan from having any contact with the two girls for 10 years, according to the District Attorney's Office.
