Driver Sought In Westminster Fatal Hit-And-Run Accident

WESTMINSTER (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say they're searching for a driver involved in a deadly solo-vehicle crash in Westminster.

The accident occurred on Magnolia Avenue just south of Westminster Boulevard about 2:54 a.m. Saturday.

Investigators say the vehicle was headed northbound on Magnolia Avenue when the driver apparently lost control. The car slammed into a brick wall and a light pole before the driver allegedly fled on foot.

An unidentified passenger, described as a man in his 20s, was pulled from the vehicle. He died at the scene. Although identified, his name has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.

"We want to find out what exactly happened, why he or she left the scene," said Cpl. Phuong Pham of the Westminster Police Department. "We believe that that person was injured because of the evidence that was left."

While authorities say there were several skid marks on the roadway leading police to believe the driver lost control, the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash was asked to call the Westminster Police Department.
