Teen Accused Of Murdering Parents In Their San Juan Capistrano Home
SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities have charged a 19-year-old Orange County man in the shooting of a divorced San Juan Capistrano couple who was found dead last month, a sheriff’s spokesman said Friday.
Ashton Colby Sachs is charged with two counts of murder — with a special circumstance allegation of multiple murders — along with two counts of attempted murder with premeditation and deliberation after his arrest Thursday night, Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock said.
Bradford Hans Sachs, 57, and his ex-wife, Andra Resa Sachs, 54, were found dead Feb. 9 at their home in the 32000 block of Peppertree Bend after authorities received a 911 call from inside the residence.
KNX 1070’s Mike Landa reports officials say Ashton Sachs, a college student who has resided in the Seattle area since fall of 2013, was not living at the residence at the time of the murder.
The couple’s 8-year-old son was also wounded in the shooting and remains hospitalized.
Authorities say two teenage girls were present in the residence at the time of the shooting, but were unharmed. The couple had five children.
KCAL 9’s Michelle Gile reported investigators say the Sachs, who were residing together at the time of the killings, had extensive real estate holdings and a history of questionable business dealings.
“We’re looking into all aspects of it, so I can’t sit here and tell you a hundred percent it’s financial or any other reasons,” Sheriff’s investigator Justin Montano said. “I can just tell you we’re looking into it right now.”
Detectives, however, found no evidence of forced entry to their home.
Investigators believe it was “apparent the Sachs’ were targeted victims” and that the suspect posed no additional threat to the community. No motive has been identified.
