$50K Reward Offered In Fatal Shooting Of 40-Year-Old Man

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A $50,000 reward was offered Wednesday for information leading the arrests of suspects responsible for the murder of a 40-year-old man.

Atilio Benavides-Amaya was fatally shot in the Westlake District around 8:15 p.m. on Nov. 6 of last year, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

He was walking in the area of 14th Street and Union Avenue when two suspects, both black males in their 20s, approached him on foot and shot him several times at close range.

"The suspects then fled eastbound on 14th Street, possibly in a dark SUV," police said.

A motive for the murder was not known.

At the time of his death, Amaya was working at a 99 Cent Store and using his wages to support his mother and son.
