4 Injured After SUV Slams Into Downey Electronics Store

DOWNEY (CBSLA.com) — Four people were injured Wednesday following the crash of an SUV into a building in Downey.

The incident occurred in the 8200 block of Firestone Boulevard near Downey Avenue, according to officials.

The vehicle crashed into an electronics store.

Brittney Hopper, reporting for KCAL9, said four people were transported to the hospital. One of the people transported is in critical condition.

One witness said, "It was horrible."

Others described the incident as "chaotic" and said there was a lot of screaming, crying and "glass was everywhere."

Kristen Hernandez works next door and heard a loud boom.

"I thought we were having an earthquake," said Hernandez, "It was a pretty substantial force that hit the building."

The store's owner told Hopper he was thankful none of his employees were near the front of the store at the time of the crash.

"Fortunately, nobody was near the front of the store to be hurt ," said store owner Lloyd Pinsky, "no one was on the sidewalk to be hit, thank goodness."

An investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
