Wife Of Slain Security Guard Reels From His Murder -- But Feels Compassion For His Killer

RANCHO CUCAMONGA (CBSLA.com) — The wife of a security guard who was killed during a robbery at the Brothers Liquor store  in Rancho Cucamonga Saturday, shared her shock and grief with KCAL9.

Authorities told Minda Sena they believe they have her husband's killer behind bars.

Police believe 36-year-old Diego Dominguez of Rancho Cucamonga shot and killed Sena's husband, 45-year-old Dean Vedol Sena, during the commission of a robbery.

She told KCAL9's Tom Wait that she feels only sorrow for the suspect.

Sena said, "Forgive him. [He needs to] get close to the Lord."

Still reeling from the horrific loss of her husband, the father of their two children, Sena says she feels only sorrow for Dominguez.

"I was trying to get a hold of [my husband] at 4 or 4:30. We would usually contact each other, are you safe? That's the time he usually goes to that strip mall," said Sena.

Police say Dominguez entered the market with a gun and demanded money. A clerk was able to flee and flagged down Sena who patrolled the area for a private security company.

Incredibly, Wait says, the victim's widow has compassion for the man who took her husband's life.

"My husband shows up as the authority, it didn't matter who. He just didn't want to be caught," Sena says.

Her friends and family by her side, Sena is leaning on them and staying strong.

Faith is helping her most, she tells Wait. In fact, the last conversation she had with her husband was about a spiritual dream.

"I called him and I said, 'You were right, that's from God," Sena said.

The family says they are going to set up a fund to help pay for Sena's burial expenses.
