Fountain Valley Mom Gets 6 Years In Prison For Sex With Son's 12-Year-Old Friend

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — A 45-year-old woman was sentenced Friday to six years in prison for having sex with a 12-year-old boy who was friends with her son in Fountain Valley.

Patricia Ann Serrano, of Fountain Valley, pleaded guilty Jan. 6 to three counts of lewd acts on a child younger than 14 and admitted a sentencing enhancement for substantial sexual conduct with a child, according to Deputy District Attorney Keith Burke said.

Serrano also pleaded guilty to a felony count of forgery and a misdemeanor count of attempted petty theft for an incident in which she "drafted a letter purporting to be from our office and it had a District Attorney seal on it," to fake an excuse for missing work, Burke said..

She had given the letter to her boss so she could avoid being docked a day's pay, he said, but her boss was suspicious of the letter and called authorities. Serrano had misspelled the name of the first prosecutor on the case, Burke said.

The victim's mother called police in the fall of 2011 when she found Serrano in a locked room with her son, hiding behind a door, Burke said.

The prosecutor says the two had sex in her home and in a car in October 2011, and Serrano sent sexually charged text messages to the boy.
