WOODLAND HILLS (CBSLA.com) — Frustrated parents converged on a Woodland Hills charter school Wednesday over what they described as a failure by the school’s principal to tackle campus issues.
Parents of students at Woodlake Elementary Community Charter located at 23231 Hatteras Street say they have complained to principal Jacque Kampschroer about several issues, including increased bullying on campus and “rude public insults” made by Kampschroer to parents and teachers.
But when asked in person, via email and in letters to take action, Kampschroer allegedly responded to the requests with either no response or by simply stating, “This is my school,” according to parent Jennifer Tseselsky.
After parents gathered over 200 signatures in a petition to the district to be heard, Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) official Sue Klein allegedly responded by stating that parents who are unhappy with Woodlake are “free to go elsewhere,” Tseselsky said.
But KNX 1070’s Jon Baird reports some parents like Allison Lauderstein, who has a third grader and a kindergartener enrolled at Woodlake, say they don’t have any issues with Kampschroer.
