HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — The southbound lanes of the 101 Freeway in Hollywood were temporarily blocked Tuesday after a big rig smashed into several vehicles.

The accident was reported at 2:58 p.m. on the freeway near Melrose Avenue.

Three people were transported to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown.

All southbound lanes were shut down for 30 minutes before all lanes were reopened around 5:20 p.m.

At a certain point, traffic on the freeway was backed up to Barham Boulevard.
