Shooting Victim Dropped Off At La Mirada Hospital Succumbs To His Wounds

LA MIRADA (CBSLA.com) — A man has died at a La Mirada hospital after being struck by gunfire, authorities said Sunday.

The incident unfolded just after 12:40 a.m. when authorities received a "shots fired" call in the 13000 block of Bona Vista Lane.

When deputies arrived on scene, they found a home riddled with bullets in an apparent drive-by shooting. While investigating, deputies received a second call from a nearby hospital reporting a shooting victim who had been dropped off.

That victim, identified only as a man, was shot multiple times and succumbed to his wounds. It was not immediately clear whether he was a victim of the suspected drive-by shooting or a separate shooting.

Back at the home, deputies detained several people on outstanding warrants.

"La Mirada is a bedroom community and relatively quiet. This is a little bit out of the norm," said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Dave Coleman.

Anyone with information about this case was asked to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call "Crime Stoppers" by dialing (800) 222-TIPS (8477), or by texting the letters TIPLA with your tip to CRIMES (274637).
