Boy, 17, Charged With Abusing Family Dog After Allegedly Posting Videos On Social Media

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) —  Animal cruelty charges were filed Tuesday against a South Los Angeles teenager who allegedly made numerous videos of himself abusing his family's dog.

The 17-year-old is charged with four felony counts of cruelty to an animal, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Prosecutors allege the juvenile made several videos of himself abusing the dog and then posted them on a social media site.

The two-year old Weimaraner, which animal control officers renamed "Charlie," has been removed from the home and has now been adopted.

The juvenile faces a maximum confinement time of three years.

He is expected to be arraigned at Eastlake Juvenile Court on February 27.

The case was investigated by the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control and the District Attorney's Bureau of Investigation.
