LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The 37-year-old half-sister of actress Julia Roberts was found dead over the weekend.

Nancy Motes was reportedly discovered in a bathtub Sunday afternoon at a home in the 1000 block of North Bundy Drive, the coroner’s office said

Motes’ family said she died of an apparent overdose.

The Roberts family released a statement to the New York Daily News and People magazine, which said, “It is with deep sadness that the family of Nancy Motes…confirms that she was found dead in Los Angeles yesterday of an apparent drug overdose. The family is both shocked and devastated.”

Toxicology tests, which will determine the exact cause of death, are expected to take about six weeks, according to the coroner’s office.
