Pelicans' Anthony Davis To Replace Kobe Bryant In NBA All-Star Game

NEW YORK (AP) -- A person with knowledge of the plans says New Orleans forward Anthony Davis will be selected to replace the injured Kobe Bryant in the NBA All-Star game to be played in his home city.

Davis was nearly chosen as a reserve, but missed by one spot in voting by Western Conference head coaches, the person told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the announcement would be made later Friday.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver chooses the replacement for injured players.

Bryant was voted by fans to start the Feb. 16 game, but is still recovering from a broken knee.
