Reminder: 'Jamzilla' Arrives On Presidents Day Weekend

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Officials are advising Southern Californians to prepare for traffic delays during an 80-hour partial closure of the northbound 405 Freeway this weekend.

Metro plans to shut down the northbound 405 Freeway for construction from 7 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Tuesday. Lanes will be reduced during the day, and at night, the freeway will be completely shut down as crews pave a carpool lane that is being built.

Officials have named the freeway closure "Jamzilla," a traffic jam of monster-like proportions.

According to LAX officials, delays can be expected for anyone leaving the LAX area or heading to the San Fernando Valley, northern Los Angeles County and Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, particularly during peak traffic hours.

Travelers catching flights out of LAX, however, are not expected to run into congestion when heading into the airport, officials said.

Drivers are advised to avoid any trips on the northbound 405 Freeway from Getty Center Driver to Ventura Boulevard over the long Presidents Day weekend, Metro said.

The Interstate 10 connector to the northbound 405 will also be closed.
