Boy, 2, Walking In Oxnard School Parking Lot Fatally Struck By Vehicle

OXNARD (CBSLA.com) — A 2-year-old boy was killed Wednesday morning when a vehicle struck him inside a school parking lot.

Authorities said they were called just before 8 a.m. to the parking lot of the Ansgar Larsen School (550 Thomas Avenue) responding to an injury traffic accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

The Oxnard Police Department said a preliminary investigation revealed a Mitsubishi Montero was moving through the parking lot when its right side struck the child who was reportedly unattended.

The child was rushed to the Ventura County Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, identified as 43-year-old Harold Hutton Jr., was uninjured as a result of the collision.

Officials said speed, alcohol and drugs were not a factor in this accident.

The investigation is on-going.

If anyone has information about this collision, you’re asked to please call Senior Officer Maria Peña at (805) 385-7750.
