Arrest Made In Fatal Accident Where Woman, 51, Was Ejected From Moving Tanker
SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Santa Ana Police on Wednesday arrested a 33-year-old Hawthorne man for a fatal accident that left a 51-year-old woman dead in December.
Jaqwun Laerin Turner was arrested at his residence, police said.
Detectives obtained evidence that showed the victim in the area of Avery and the I-5 getting into a petroleum tanker allegedly driven by suspect Turner.
On December 8, 2013, at approximately 2:43 in the morning, the tanker was observed traveling on the I-5 north at the 22 Freeway when a person was seen being ejected from the passenger side of the vehicle.
The witness said the tanker continued driving north and did not attempt to stop.
After being interviewed by detectives, Turner was booked into the Santa Ana Police Department Jail.
The victim was identified as Martha Rodezno, 51, of Los Angeles.
Homicide detectives learned that Rodenzo was at a family function in Mission Viejo.
For unknown reasons, the victim got upset and left the function on foot. She was last seen at Avery and the I-5 in Mission Viejo around midnight. This was verified by independent witnesses.
It is unknown where Rodenzo was between midnight and 2:40 a.m. — it is unknown who she was with, where she was or how she got to Santa Ana.
