1 Studio City Man, 1 Other Arrested For Email Hacking Nude Photos For 'Revenge Porn' Site

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Two men were arrested Thursday morning for allegedly conspiring to hack into victims' email accounts to steal nude photos and posting them on a "revenge porn" website.

Charles Evens, 25, of Studio City and Northern California resident, 27-year-old Hunter Moore, were arrested by special agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and charged with conspiracy, seven counts of unauthorized access to a protected computer to obtain information and seven counts of aggravated identity theft, officials said.

According to the 15-count indictment, Moore operated the website isanyoneup.com, known as a "revenge porn" site, where he posted nude or sexually explicit photos of victims that were submitted without permission, according to the FBI.

"However, to obtain more photos to populate the site, Moore allegedly instructed Evens to gain unauthorized access to – in other words, to hack into – victims' e-mail accounts," US Attorney's office said in a statement. "Moore sent payments to Evens in exchange for nude photos obtained unlawfully from the victims' accounts. Moore then posted the illegally obtained photos on his website, without the victims' consent."

Both suspects are expected to make court appearances Thursday afternoon with Evens scheduled to appear in United States District Court in Los Angeles. If convicted, they face up to five years in federal prison for each of the conspiracy and computer hacking counts.

An aggravated identity theft charge carries a mandatory two-year sentence that would run consecutive to another other sentence imposed in the case.
