Burbank Man, 40, Charged With Murdering Mother, Dumping Body In Alley

PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — A man was charged Wednesday with murdering his 77-year-old mother, whose body was found in an alley near their apartment.

Moises Diaz, 40, is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Pasadena Superior Court for allegedly killing Maria Huezo-Diaz. They shared an apartment in the 4000 block of West Victory Boulevard.

Police were called to a nearby alley at 10:41 a.m. Monday after being told a person was possibly sleeping there. They discovered the victim’s body wrapped in blankets.

An autopsy performed by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office determined that the woman died from “asphyxia by neck compressions,” according to Burbank police.

Prosecutors were asking that Diaz’s bail be set at $1 million.
