Man Who Allegedly Shot Girlfriend Found Dead Inside Home After Barricade Situation

PALMDALE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities said a man who was suspected of shooting his girlfriend was found dead inside a Palmdale home after a barricade situation.

The unidentified man is accused of shooting the 49-year-old woman inside a home in the 37700 block of Christensen Court about 6:40 a.m. Friday.

After barricading himself inside the home, police said the man was found dead hours later, apparently by his own hand.

Sheriff's deputies and a team from the Special Enforcement Bureau entered the home just after 2 p.m. and found the suspect dead, said Lt. Darren Harris of the Sheriff's Palmdale Station.

The man's girlfriend was taken to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound. Capt. Mike Parker of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau said deputies rescued the woman from the doorway of the home while the shooter was inside. They carried her more than 50 yards to where a triage unit had been set up.

On Friday evening, officials also said two teenaged boys were in the home during the time of the shooting but were able to flee the residence before the suspect barricaded himself inside.

The victim is listed in serious condition but expected to survive, said the LA Sheriff's Department.
