Long Beach Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting Woman He Met At A Bar

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A Long Beach man was charged Friday with sexually assaulting a woman he met at a bar, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Steven Michael Desisto, 52, is scheduled to be arraigned Friday on two felony counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object where the victim is drugged, one count of eavesdropping and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

Prosecutors say Desisto met the woman on Aug. 7, 2013 and had drinks with her. Afterward, he allegedly took her to his apartment and assaulted her several times.

Police investigators found an image of the victim on Desisto's cell phone and cocaine at his home, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Desisto was arrested on Jan. 15 by Long Beach police and is being held on $2 million bail.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims who have never contacted police. Long Beach police says anyone who has been the victim of an unreported crime involving Desisto can call Long Beach police sex crimes Detective Stacey Holdredge at (562) 570-5513.

If convicted as charged, Desisto faces a maximum of 11 years and eight months in state prison.
