Police Arrest Long Beach Man, 52, Suspected Of Multiple Sexual Assaults

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Long Beach police have arrested a 52-year-old man charged in the sexual assault of a woman and say other victims may still exist.

Investigators say Steven DeSisto, of Long Beach, was arrested on January 15 at approximately 8:15 a.m. in the 500 block of East 1st Street by members of the Sex Crimes Detail and Violent Sexual Predator Unit.

DeSisto was booked for three felony charges and one misdemeanor, including two counts of felony sexual assault, one felony count of drug possession, and one misdemeanor count of photographing an unconscious person.

Police say the sexual assault occurred in August 2013 after the suspect met the victim in a local bar and she became intoxicated.

According to investigators, the suspect transported the intoxicated victim to his residence in the area of Ocean Boulevard and Orange Avenue, where he sexually assaulted her. Police say following the assault, the victim fled the residence and called police.

DeSisto is currently being held in the Long Beach City Jail on $2 million bail pending his arraignment, tentatively scheduled for Friday.

The investigation is ongoing and investigators believe there may be additional victims who have never contacted police.

If you have been the victim of an unreported crime involving DeSisto, investigators ask that you call Long Beach Police Sex Crimes Detective Stacey Holdredge at (562) 570-5513.
