Clues In Gatto Murder Still Sparse After LAPD Parole Crackdown
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Hundreds of LAPD officers were in northeast Los Angeles Thursday to search for clues in the murder of Assemblyman Mike Gatto's father.
KNX 1070's Pete Demetriou reports the effort comes just one day after a $50,000 reward was announced for information leading to an arrest in the case.

About 110 LAPD police officers, as well as parole and probation agents, conducted compliance checks on people living at 84 different locations as part of the operation, according to Demetriou.

Lt. Walt Teague with Robbery Homicide Division confirmed officers were hoping the sweep might lead to a suspect being named or a person shown in a police sketch released last month being identified in the Nov. 13 murder of Joe Gatto at his Silverlake home.
Authorities say 12 people were taken into custody for parole violations, and a unspecified number of guns were seized, but the operation yielded no immediate arrests or new information on a suspect in the killing, Demetriou reported.
The 78-year-old Gatto was found shot at least one time in the abdomen at his residence, police said. The home was ransacked, but it was unclear if anything was taken.
Police believe the slaying was the result of a home-invasion or burglary gone wrong.
Mike Gatto, 39, was elected to the represent California's 43rd District in a special election in June 2010.
