Palmdale Deputies Rescue Woman Allegedly Abducted On Christmas Day

PALMDALE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a man is behind bars on suspicion of kidnapping and other charges for allegedly taking his girlfriend against her will on Christmas Day

Giovanni McKinnis of Palmdale was being held at the Palmdale sheriff's station in lieu of $100,000 bail.

The 19-year-old man is accused of kidnapping his girlfriend on Dec. 25, and allegedly assaulting her.

The woman's family did not alert authorities of the alleged incident until Saturday for fear that the suspect would harm the woman or the child, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a statement.

After the report was filed, deputies located the victim allegedly hidden in an apartment in the 1100 block of East Avenue Q-4 in Palmdale, authorities said.

"When the deputies found the victim, she was hidden inside the apartment and appeared extremely fearful," the statement said.

McKinnis has since been booked on suspicion of attempted murder, kidnapping, domestic violence, domestic violence restraining order violation, and false imprisonment.
