ORANGE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a 30-year-old motorcyclist was killed Thursday morning when he crashed into a big rig truck on the Garden Grove (22) Freeway.

Terry Franklin Jr. of Orange was riding a green 2005 Kawasaki ZX-6R at a high rate of speed on the eastbound lanes when he collided with the left rear of a tractor-trailer truck at about 4 a.m., California Highway Patrol officials said.

Franklin was thrown onto the main lanes of freeway, east of The City Drive, and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the CHP.

The truck driver was not injured.
