4 Officers Hurt In 2 Separate Crashes Early Sunday
SAN PEDRO (CBSLA.com) — Four local law enforcement officers were taken to area hospitals early Sunday morning after two separate crashes.
KNX 1070’s Ed Mertz reports that the first involved two LAPD officers from the 77th Street Division who were responding to a call.
According to Mertz, the police cruiser collided with a vehicle near Florence Avenue and Avalon Boulevard. A witness told Mertz that the cruiser also crashed into a pole.
The officers were hospitalized as a precautionary measure. The person in the other vehicle was not hurt.
Elsewhere in San Pedro, two Port officers and another driver were hospitalized after police said the cruiser was rear-ended by a suspected drunken driver.
LAPD South Traffic Sgt. Dana Adams said the crash happened during a traffic stop.
“That person was arrested for felony DUI,” the sergeant said.
The conditions of those two officers and the suspect have not been released.
