City Councilman To Hold 'Holiday Movie Night' In Griffith Park

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — It may be chilly outside, but one City Councilman is hoping residents will come out Friday for the city's 1st Annual Family Holiday Movie Night in Griffith Park.

KNX 1070's Claudia Peschiutta reports Councilmember Tom LaBonge and his staff will host the free holiday event - and it's all for a good cause.

LaBonge's Council District Four office will be showing two holiday cartoon classics, "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" and "Twas The Night Before Christmas" on the grounds of the historic Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round, which will also be open for free.

"The music from the carousel will warm you up," LaBonge said. "I remember as a child how cold it was sometimes going out to Christmas events."

Larry Adamson, CEO of Midnight Mission, and 25 children from the downtown L.A. mission will also be on hand to accept donations.

Families young and old are invited, and all attendees are urged to dress warmly and bring blankets and picnic snacks.

The event will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at 4730 Crystal Springs Drive.
