LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Monday were investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in a burning SUV in South LA.

The California Highway Patrol was alerted to the burning vehicle around 11:30 p.m. Sunday near the Harbor (110) Freeway and West Vernon Avenue, officials said.

Witnesses told officers the woman lost control of a Honda CRV before it hit a concrete wall and exploded on the northbound side of the freeway.

The victim’s identity has not been released.
