Ex-Con Accused Of Being In Possession Of Loaded Firearm

CORONA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say an ex-con accused of being in possession of a loaded firearm was behind bars this weekend.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department said in a statement that 29-year-old Charles Daniel Finney of Temescal Canyon was arrested Saturday night after deputies responded to a 10 p.m. call of a man peering into parked cars in a business complex.

Upon arriving on scene, a patrol deputy made contact with the suspect they later identified as Finney.

After spotting the deputy, the statement says Finney allegedly fled toward the back of the center, and a foot pursuit ensued.

Finney was subsequently detained and was allegedly in possession of a loaded firearm.

"During the course of the investigation it was discovered Finney had a felony warrant issued for his arrest for possession of a controlled substance," the statement said.

Finney was taken to the Southwest Detention Center.

Anyone with information about this case was asked to contact Deputy Liebrand at the Riverside County Sheriff's Department at (951) 245-3300 or (951) 776-1099 during after-hours.
