Man, 35, Accused Of Murdering 23-Year-Old Girlfriend In Monterey Park

MONTEREY PARK (CBSLA.com) — Officials have announced the arrest of a 35-year-old man they said murdered his girlfriend in Monterey Park.

Authorities said the victim, 23-year-old Jacqueline Alamillo, was murdered in her home in the 1700 block of College View Drive on Friday.

Detectives have named the suspect as Daniel Hernandez. He is being held without bail at the Los Angeles County Men's Central Jail.

The motive is undetermined at this time.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's detectives are aiding Monterey Park police in the investigation.

Authorities said around 4:30 a.m. Saturday they responded to the victim's residence for a welfare check. They discovered the victim dead in the bedroom.

About one hour later, officials said the suspect was spotted acting "suspiciously" in traffic and yelling at passing cars. After Hernandez was detained, they learned he was the domestic partner of the deceased.

Officials said a Hernandez sibling was at the home the previous night and left around 10 p.m. when Hernandez began acting strangely. It was that family member who asked police to make a welfare check at the residence, according to authorities.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
