Elderly Man Arrested While Watching Child Porn At Menifee Restaurant

MENIFEE (CBSLA.com) — An elderly Riverside County man has been arrested for watching child porn while dining at an area restaurant.

Charles Turton Cook, 72, was taken into custody Monday, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Authorities were alerted to Cook's activity around 9:45 a.m. after a customer saw him viewing inappropriate images on his laptop at an eatery in the Countryside Market Place in Menifee.

"Deputies contacted the suspect inside the restaurant and confirmed he was viewing child pornography utilizing the restaurant's open Wi-Fi," Det. John Powers said.

A search of Cook's home found numerous digital pictures "depicting young male children on his laptop computer," Powers added.

Cook posted $5,000 bail Tuesday and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 4, 2014.
