Police: Man, 2-Year-Old Daughter Shot In Covina Home-Invasion

COVINA (CBSLA.com) — An adult and his 2-year-old daughter were shot Friday during a home-invasion in the San Gabriel Valley, according to police.

Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of S. Cedar Drive around 12:27 p.m. for an assault with a deadly weapon call, authorities said.

Upon arrival, they discovered the two victims each suffering from one gunshot wound. A KCAL9 News crew reported the 2-year-old victim was shot in the leg and an adult was shot in the chest.

The victims were airlifted to a local hospital, where both are reported to be in stable condition.

The victims were not residents at the home, according to reports. The male victim is the friend of one of the residents.

The suspect rang the doorbell, at which point one of the residents answered and reportedly faced a gun.

"The doorbell rang and I went over there and opened the door, and 'Bang'," Bob Humble said. "He pushed me down and had a gun on me. He tied my legs together and had me lay on my back, and then eventually turned me over on my stomach (and) tied my arms."

The suspect made off with a number of valuables, including the elderly couples' wedding rings.

"They took everything that they could get their hands on," Marilyn Humble said. "All my jewelry, as you can see, and money."

Residents of the neighborhood report that a string of robberies has taken place in the area over recent weeks.

Detectives were searching for the suspect, a male in his 20's, who may have jumped into a gold-colored car.
