LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A teenage boy was critically injured after he was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle late Thursday afternoon, police said.

The 15-year-old victim was riding westbound on 61st Street when he was struck by a compact vehicle traveling northbound on Linden Ave., according to spokeswoman Nancy Pratt of the Long Beach Police Department.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene.

The teen was riding through a stop sign when he was struck, according to Pratt.

Police are looking for a vehicle described as silver or light-colored compact with possible visible front-end damage on the right side.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Long Beach Police Department’s Collision Investigation Detail at (562) 570-7355.
