INGLEWOOD (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Thursday identified the hostage and standoff suspect who shot two Inglewood police officers as Christopher Warsaw.

Warsaw, 45, who was arrested late Wednesday night after a nearly eight-hour standoff, has been booked for attempted murder.

The incident began around 12:35 p.m. when Inglewood police responded to a domestic violence call at a home in the 10700 block of South 5th Avenue, near 108th Street, officials said.

Two Inglewood police officers, a male and female, were hit when Warsaw opened fire before barricading himself inside the home with two hostages, believed to be his girlfriend and her 14-year-old daughter.

A SWAT Team later responded to the scene. Warsaw released the hostage and surrendered to authorities around 9:15 p.m.

The male officer was struck in a bullet-resistant vest, suffering blunt force trauma injuries. He was admitted to Centinela Hospital and transferred to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where he is in stable condition. The female officer suffered minor injuries falling while trying to protect her partner, police said. She has been released from Centinela Hospital.

Warsaw is being held $1 million bail at the South Los Angeles Station.

No booking photo was released. He is due in court on Monday at 8:30 a.m.
