Man Killed, Wife Wounded In Eagle Rock Shooting

EAGLE ROCK (CBSLA.com) — A man was killed and his wife wounded Wednesday in a shooting in their Eagle Rock home as their 6-year-old son hid from the assailants, police said.

The shooting happened around 10:50 a.m. on Sagamore Way near Avenue 42, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Police would not release the identities of the victims, but Det. Harold Dicroce told CBS2's Suraya Fadel they were "hardworking professionals and upstanding citizens" with no criminal records.

Officers initially responded to the scene on a shots-fired call and discovered the two shooting victims.

The man died at the scene and the woman was taken to a local hospital in serious condition.

Dicroce said the couple's  6-year-old son was at home during attack. "His mom told him to run and hide, and  basically that's what he did," Dicroce said. The child was unhurt and is now with an aunt.

Police said the suspects fled the scene in a dark green sedan. The motive of the shooting was unknown but police said it could have been a random act of violence.
