LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglarizing the Los Angeles home of a paraplegic man.

The LAPD said in a statement that the victim contacted authorities on Saturday to report an intruder.

The victim made the call on his cellphone while the suspect was in another room, the statement indicated. At the time, the victim was in his medical bed and unable to get to his wheelchair, according to police.

Officers responded to the location and apprehended the suspect they identified as Alexander Generalao. The victim was uninjured.

Generalao is accused of taking cash from the victim as well as medication from the victim and his dog.

Generalao was booked on suspicion of burglary, police said.

No further details were released.
