Carjacking Victim Drives Suspect To NoHo Police Station

NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Authorities nabbed a carjacking and kidnapping suspect Thursday after the alleged victim drove to a police station in North Hollywood.

The incident began when the suspect approached a driver at Lankershim Boulevard and Kittridge Street, said he had a gun and forced the man to drive, according to Los Angeles police Lt. Mike Rimkunas.

"The victim, driving the suspect, drove by the North Hollywood police station, he pulled into our parking lot and flagged down a few officers that were outside," Rimkunas said.

The suspect bailed once he realized where the driver had taken him.

Police, however, were able to apprehend him a few blocks away on Irvine Avenue and Collins Street.

Rimkunas said the victim did the right thing by driving to the station.

"Anytime you have anyone jump into your car, and simulate some sort of weapon, and tell you to drive, it's probably a little nerve-racking, but he was able to maintain his composure and knew where to go to get immediate help ... and he did so," he said.
