Hemet Police Arrest 2 In Fatal Shooting Of Man, 77, In His Garage

HEMET (CBSLA.com) — Authorities in Hemet have announced the arrest of two suspects wanted for the fatal shooting Saturday of  a 77-year-old man in his garage.

Officers responded to the home in the 2800 block of Fruitvale Avenue about 9:15 p.m. Saturday and found a man shot to death.

The man's wife and the victim had just returned home from a family outing. The man's wife was reportedly inside the home putting groceries away at the time of the attack.

The victim has now been identified as Victor Prinque.

Police said there were no witnesses to the shooting. Officials said they were able to identify a vehicle description and distributed information throughout the San Jacinto Valley.

Detectives also determined two similar robberies -- with a matching vehicle description -- occurred in recent weeks.

Police said on Tuesday, a vehicle matching the description of the suspect car was observed in the city of San Jacinto.

The driver and occupants were reportedly questioned. Search warrants were obtained on the vehicle and on locations in Hemet and San Jacinto, police said.

"Hemet police investigators pursued this case with relentless commitment and made it clear they would not sleep until the suspects responsible for this senseless crime were identified and arrested," said Hemet Police Chief David Brown.
