SAN BERNARDINO ( — Officials say a homeless man in San Bernardino is in very critical condition after being beaten.

San Bernardino Police responded to a call about a man down in the rear of a liquor store in the 700 block of 40th Street at about 9 a.m. Saturday.

When police arrived, they found a badly-beaten homeless man suffering from extreme head trauma.

The victim, now identified as 55-year-old Theodore Allen Stratton, was taken to a local hospital where his condition was described as very critical.

Authorities have not identified a suspect or said what might have caused Stratton’s head trauma.

The motive for the attack is also unknown.

Police asked anyone with information about the beating to call Detective Michele Mahan at (909) 384-5619 or Sergeant Gary Robertson at (909) 841-5361.
