Voluntary Evacuations In Effect As Crews Battle 100-Acre Brush Fire Near Santa Paula

SANTA PAULA (CBSLA.com) — A 100-acre brush fire near Santa Paula prompted voluntary evacuations Thursday afternoon.

The blaze, which started before 1 p.m., was burning near the 6800 block of Wheeler Canyon Road.

Two crew members were were injured battling the fire, but their conditions were not immediately available. (The injuries were believed to be heat-related and general illness.)

Residents living north of the area were asked to evacuate.

Wheeler Canyon Road remained closed to everyone but residents at Foothill Road.

No structures have been damaged.
