LAS VEGAS (AP) — Alan Williams led all scorers with 21 points to lead UCSB to an 86-65 victory over UNLV Tuesday night.
The Gauchos shot a scorching 62.5 percent from the field (15-of-24) in the first half and led 45-29 at halftime. UCSB finished the game shooting 29 of 52 from the field, including 9-of-14 on 3-pointers.
Kyle Boswell added 19 for the Gauchos, after shooting 5 of 7 from beyond the arc. Williams led UCSB with nine rebounds and made 9-of-19 shots.
UNLV shot a dismal 23 of 63 (36.5 percent) from the field. The Runnin’ Rebels had three players in double figures, led by Kevin Olekaibe’s 15 points. The 86 points in the game are more than UNLV gave up all of last season.
