Man Fatally Shot, Struck By Hit-And-Run Car In Athens

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities are continuing to investigate an early morning shooting that left one man dead in Athens.

The shooting on 122nd Street and Western Avenue occurred about 2:47 a.m. Saturday, according to a statement issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The unidentified victim was taken to an area hospital where he died.

The CHP was originally called to the scene because it was believed the deceased was a victim of a hit-and-run. After CHP personnel arrived, it was determined the victim had actually been shot twice prior to being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle.

Authorities do not have a description of the suspect's vehicle or the shooter.
