COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — One man was killed and another wounded in a what authorities called a gang-related car-to-car shooting in Compton Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. near the intersection of Alameda Street and El Segundo Boulevard, L.A. County sheriff’s Deputy Guillermina Saldana said.

Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Rosson said the gunfire came from a silver mid-sized SUV carrying two males. The targeted vehicle carried three males, two of whom were struck by gunfire. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and a 19-year-old passenger was taken to a hospital, where he is in stable condition, Rosson said.  The third man was uninjured.

The name of the deceased was not released pending notification of family members.

No arrests have been made.

Sky2’s Derek Bell said a car crashed into a building shortly after the shooting. It was not known if the crash was related to the crime.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. All tips can be made anonymously.
