Mother Arrested After Toddler Found Wandering Alone In Lynwood

LYNWOOD (CBSLA.com) — The mother of a 2-year-old boy was arrested Thursday night after he was found wandering barefoot and alone on a Lynwood street earlier in the day.

The young boy was spotted near Imperial Highway and Elm Street around 2:30 p.m. Thursday by a tow-truck driver, who alerted a sheriff's deputy. The deputy was unable to find any guardians for the child and took him to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, where he was examined.

By Thursday evening, deputies had found the boy's mother and grandmother and reunited them. After further investigation, the boy's mother, Asia Ramsey,  was arrested, KCAL9's Rachel Kim reports.

Ramsey booked at the Century Regional Detention Facility on suspicion of child endangerment.

The location where the boy was found is a short distance from where he lived.

According to a neighbor of the family, the grandmother said she was asleep when the boy wandered off.

As authorities were looking for the boy's family, Sgt. Marcelo Quintero of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department told CBS2's Randy Paige that the child was in good spirits and appeared to be in good health.

When he was found, the child was wearing a white shirt with a bicycle print, blue shorts, no shoes, and had a string with a pacifier attached.
