Man Killed, Woman Wounded In West Adams Drive-By Shooting
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A man was killed and a woman was wounded early Wednesday morning in a drive-by shooting in the West Adams District.
The victims were sitting in a parked Mercedes in the 3700 block of West 36th Street around 1:40 a.m. when they were shot, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
"The suspect vehicle drove along side and opened fire," Lt. Jeff Nolte said.
The man and woman, who were between 25 and 30 years old, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to their upper torsos and were taken to a local hospital, where the man was pronounced dead.
The truck fled the scene heading westbound on 36th Street, police said.
Wednesday night, the L.A. County coroner's office identified the male victim as Orlando Iles, of Los Angeles.
The wounded woman was hospitalized in stable condition, LAPD Officer Gregory Baek said late Wednesday.
Neither victim has ties to a gang.
The shooting was under investigation.
