Dodgers' Zack Greinke Wins Silver Slugger Award

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Zack Greinke of the Dodgers was named a winner of the Silver Slugger award during an hourlong telecast Wednesday on MLB Network.

The award is for the best hitter at each position during the 2013 season.

Greinke, 30, led all pitchers with a .328 batting average, 19 hits, a .409 on-base percentage and two stolen bases while ranking among the leaders in runs scored and doubles.

Since 1974, Greinke is the second-best hitter among Dodger pitchers, behind Orel Hershiser, who hit a whopping .373 in 1993.

The last Dodger player to win the award was  center fielder Matt Kemp in 2011.
