CSUN Student Accused Of Filing False Police Report About Campus Prowler

NORTHRIDGE (CBSLA.com) — Criminal charges have been brought against a student at California State University Northridge for allegedly filing a false police report last month.

The student, identified as 19-year-old Yeni Martinez, is accused of fabricating an Oct. 5, report in which she alleged that she awoke to find a man touching her bare leg.

The university said in a statement that Martinez had also claimed that the suspect took off with several documents and her wallet before fleeing her university housing apartment.

"An investigation by CSUN police into the incident revealed that no crime had occurred," the school said in a statement.

The statement said that campus police ultimately recommended that the Los Angeles City Attorney's office file charges against Martinez.

No further information was available.
