Body Found After Auto Body Shop Fire In Hawthorne

HAWTHORNE (CBSLA.com) — A body was discovered early Friday morning after a commercial building fire was extinguished in the South Bay.

The fire was reported at 4:14 a.m. at Earl Schieb Auto Painting in the 3200 block of Rosecrans Avenue in Hawthorne, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

The fire took about 15 minutes to extinguish.

"Upon performing search and rescue operations, we did find one victim that was a fatality inside," Batt. Chief Brian Askari told KNX 1070.

The body has not been identified and officials do not suspect arson as a cause.

Hawthorne police were conducting a homicide investigation.
