50 Households Without Water After 2 Water Mains Break In Brentwood

BRENTWOOD (CBSLA.com) — About 50 households were without water Thursday morning after two water mains broke in Brentwood.

Flooding was reported around 9 p.m. Wednesday in the area of San Vicente Boulevard and Saltair Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

Water was shut off to the households about 25 minutes later.

Crews worked to repair the two broken mains. One was an 8-inch pipe, which broke in the 600 block of Saltair Ave. that serves buildings on Saltair Ave. from San Vicente Blvd. to Saltair Place; and the second was a 6-inch line that serves Saltair Terrace.

KNX1070's Pete Demetriou said the pipes were put in around 1933.

Bell Verdict

It was unclear what caused the mains to break and when water service would be restored to the area.
