Bicyclist Fatally Struck By Truck In Santa Clarita

SANTA CLARITA (CBSLA.com)  — A male bicyclist was fatally hit by a truck in Santa Clarita Wednesday.

The victim, believed to be between 38 and 45 years old, was declared dead at the scene.

The accident occurred just before 8 a.m. near Magic Mountain Parkway and Railroad Avenue, Coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said.

The victim's name was withheld pending notification of his family.

The bicyclist had been riding north on Railroad Avenue on the sidewalk where it enters the roadway and crosses Magic Mountain Parkway. The truck driver, who was turning from eastbound Magic Mountain Parkway to northbound Railroad Avenue, stopped at the scene and was questioned, sheriff's deputies said.

Sgt. Richard Cohen of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station said witnesses are being sought.
